Fifteen senior high school football players from the Grand Strand and Pee Dee are getting ready for Saturday's North-South All-Star game. Fourteen of the local players will compete for the South squad, representing the lower state. Lamar High's Akeem Peoples will play for the upper state North stars.

Most of the players are out to impress the dozens of college scouts who are watching the two-a-day workouts this week. Other stars, like 310 pound lineman Taylor Chambers from Irmo, who has given his verbal commitment to play at Wake Forest, says he will use this week to just have fun playing football, and hang out with some of the best high school players in South Carolina.

The North beat the South 42-3 in last year's game. It was the most one-sided contest in the series since 1950. The North has won the last six times against the South, and 11 of the last 14. North leads the all-time series 37-25-2.

The 64th edition of the North-South game will kickoff at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 8, at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.
