Old Dominion ends Coastal's season 63-35

The 3rd ranked Old Dominion Monarchs eliminated the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers 63-35 in round two of the FCS Playoffs in Norfolk, Virginia on Saturday.

Old Dominion quarterback Taylor Heinicke completed 32 of 44 passes for 497 yards and six touchdowns. Heinicke also ran for two scores, as the Monarchs piled up 672 yards of total offense against the Chanticleers.

Coastal Carolina hung tough for three quarters. Senior quarterback Aramis Hillary threw for 352 yards and three scores to keep the Chants in the game. Former Cheraw High star Travis Small scored with three minutes remaining in the third quarter to tie the game 35-35.

Old Dominion dominated the final 16:01 of the game. The Monarchs scored four unanswered touchdowns to close out the scoring.

Matt Hazel finished the season with the best game of his Coastal career. He had nine catches for 155 yards and 2 TD's.

Coastal Carolina's season ends with a record of 8-5. Old Dominion (11-1) advances to host Georgia Southern in the FCS quarterfinals next weekend.
