UPDATE

Vincente Virola Rodriguez, the man wanted for a crash on Highway 501 in Horry County that killed a 4-year-old girl in March, turned himself in at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

A warrant was issued for his arrest this month on a charge of Reckless Homicide.

Jada Bennett was killed in the wreck when a tractor trailer, driven by Rodriguez, rear-ended the SUV Jada was in on Highway 501 at the Tanger Outlet.

A MAIT (Multi-Disciplinary Accident Team) report from Highway Patrol concluded Rodriguez was on his cell phone during and right before the crash and was driving too fast for conditions.

Rodriguez lives in Florida and traveled to Horry County to turn himself in at noon Wednesday.

He received a $5,000 recognizance bond for the Reckless Homicide charge, which is the maximum amount for the charge. He bonded out at 5:03pm.

Rodriguez must stay in contact with attorney Morgan Martin.

Vincente Virola Rodriguez bonded out just after 5:00p.m. Wednesday night.

Jada's mother, Miriam Bennett, attended the bond hearing. She said she will a continue to fight for justice for Jada and someone needs to be held responsible.

Bennett has also filed a civil wrongful death lawsuit in federal court against Rodriguez and Hartt Transportation. They are in the early stages of litigation.

In Jada's obituary , the family wrote "Jada was truly our little happy princess, from the way she acted to the way she moved. There was not a day that went by that she didn't let us know how much she loved us."
