Clemson signs 2 for next season

Clemson has signed 6-foot-6 Austin Ajukwa and 6-3 Patrick Rooks for the men's basketball team.

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) -- Clemson has signed 6-foot-6 Austin Ajukwa and 6-3 Patrick Rooks for the men's basketball team.

Tigers coach Brad Brownell announced the signings Wednesday, the first day of the sport's early signing period. Ajukwa is from Columbia and plays at Cardinal Newman High School. Rooks is from Charlotte and plays at Charlotte Christian School.

Brownell said Ajukwa and Rooks are strong players who can score.

Ajukwa was the statewide SCISA player of the year last season after averaging 21 points, 9 rebounds and 2 1/2 steals a game.

Rooks averaged 14 points a game last year and shot 37 percent from three-point range.
