Georgetown QB Caleb Hughes had 244 passing yards and 4 TD passes in a win over Wilson.
Caleb Hughes threw four touchdown passes and Georgetown secured a third place finish in Region 7/3A in a 49-42 Thursday night win in Florence over the Wilson Tigers. Wilson quarterback TJ Frederick threw five TD passes and ran for another in a losing effort. After Raekwon McCall hauled in a 48 yard TD pass to put the Tigers in front 7-0, Georgetown rattled off three straight scores. Michael Billings 4 yard run paced the Bulldogs to a 21-7 advantage. Wilson battled back with a pair of scores. Frederick scored from 16 yards out on the ground to tie the game at 21, but Georgetown took control for the rest of the first half. Alvin Walker's second TD catch of the half gave the Bulldogs a 28-21 lead and Julian Lunsford closed out the first half scoring to make it a 35-21 Georgetown lead at the half.
Wilson rallied from 14 points down once again in the second half. A 40 yard TD pass to Christian Bruce got the Tigers within seven at 42-35, but they would never get any closer. Frederick had outstanding numbers in a losing effort. The Wilson quarterback was 13 of 23 for 264 yards with 5 TD's and no interceptions. He also ran for 83 yards on the ground accounting for all six Wilson touchdowns.
Caleb Hughes was 12 of 22 for 244 yards and 4 TD passes with one interception. Walker had 7 catches for 136 yards and two TD's and Julian Lunsford had 24 carries for 119 yards and two trips to the end zone.
With the win Georgetown improves to 6-4 and secures a post-season berth. The Bulldogs will play the winner of Friday night's Marlboro County at Manning game on the road. Wilson finishes the season with a 3-7 record.
