The nationally ranked Eastern Kentucky Colonels (1-1) will play at the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (2-0) this Saturday at 6 p.m. At his weekly news conference, CCU head football coach Joe Moglia said, "It doesn't matter what they're ranked, it's irrelevant, they're pretty good."

Eastern Kentucky is ranked 25th in the latest FCS Coaches Poll and 20th in The Sports Network Poll. The Colonels lost their opener at Purdue 48-6. They bounced back to beat Morehead State 24-17 last weekend.

CCU beat Furman 47-45 in triple overtime last weekend. But Moglia said, while he was pleased with the win, he was disappointed that the Chants defense gave up so many points. "I want to slam my head with a shovel like 15 times because of what happened."

Dean Hood is in his fifth season as head coach at Eastern Kentucky. The Colonels have won the Ohio Valley Conference championship two of the last four years under his direction. Hood is a former defensive coordinator at Wake Forest.

Eastern Kentucky has the second most FCS playoff appearances of any team in the nation. But they have not won a non-conference FCS road game in almost a decade. That string of eight consecutive losses dates back to a 38-35 overtime win at Liberty in 2002.

The Colonels have a strong running game, led by Matt Denham, who rushed for 1,570 yards one year ago, and is on the Walter Payton Award Watch List.

Coastal Carolina is unranked. They did receive nine points among the non-ranked teams receiving votes this week in The Sports Network Poll, putting the Chanticleers among the top 50.

This will be the first football meeting between Eastern Kentucky and Coastal Carolina.
