LONDON, ENGLAND - Two former Gamecock athletes went for gold on Wednesday in London, coming up seconds short of their ultimate goals.

Lashinda Demus took home the silver medal in the women's 400-meter hurdles event.  She missed out on gold by a slim margin of .07 seconds.  Natalya Antyukh finished first.

In the men's 110-meter hurdles, Jason Richardson won the silver, finishing behind only gold-medal winner and fellow American Aries Merritt.  Merritt's time was 12.92 seconds, Richardson's was 13.04 seconds.
