Calesio Newman has made it to the men's 200 meter finals at the U.S. Olympic Trials.

Calesio Newman finished second in a men's 200 meter semi-final heat at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon at Hayward Field on Saturday night  Newman, a Green Sea-Floyds High alum has earned a spot in the finals on Sunday.

Newman, running unattached, clocked a time of 20.53 seconds. He finished second to heat winner Shawn Crawford who ran a 20.48 time. Crawford, a former Clemson track star, won the 200 meter gold at the 2004 Olympics and silver in 2008.

Newman got out of the blocks slower than much of the field. When he made the turn onto the straightaway, the former North Carolina A&T track star rallied to hit the line in second place and remain alive for a trip to the 2012 Olympics in London, England.

The 200 meter finals are scheduled for 7:50 p.m. EST and will be televised on NBC.
