Four South Carolina high school football powerhouses are set to play a double-header on Saturday, August 25 at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach. The event is now called the Derrick Law Firm Kickoff Classic.

The Conway High Tigers will play the Northwestern Trojans out of Rock Hill at 5 p.m. on August 25. The Myrtle Beach Seahawks will take on the Irmo Yellowjackets at 8 p.m.

In addition to new sponsorship, 151 Sports Marketing, the company promoting the event, announced that the Derrick Law Firm Kickoff Classic will be adding more teams over two days of play in 2013. Richmond County was the first North Carolina team to sign up last September. Joining the Raiders at the Classic next year are Hoggard, New Hanover and Southeast Raleigh.

The 2013 game will match South Carolina against North Carolina schools. Richmond County will play Myrtle Beach at next year's game. The other matchups have yet to be determined.

Honorary coaches were named for this year's event. The wife of Doug Shaw, Cecelia, will represent the late Myrtle Beach Seahawks football coach during the festivities. The stadium where the games will be played is named after Shaw, who amassed 223 career wins and four state championships.

Other honorary coaches include former Northwestern head coach Jimmy Wallace, who won four state championships and racked up 286 wins. Joining Wallace is former Conway High head coach Julius Derrick, who guided the Tigers for seven years, winning 70 percent of his games. Ex-Irmo field boss Joe Turbeville will also be honored. Turbeville led the Yellowjackets to a state championship in 1980 and he had a total of 239 coaching victories.

151 Sports Marketing has a six year agreement to hold the Derrick Law Firm Kickoff Classic in Myrtle Beach.
