Michael Hamlin returned home on Tuesday night to see his #5 jersey hang in the rafters at Lamar High School. Hamlin, the former Clemson safety and current Washington Redskin, joined NFL greats Levon Kirkland and John Abraham as retired numbers at Lamar. Hamlin won two state championships in his high school career with the Silver Foxes and was a 2003 WPDE All-Zone selection.
Hamlin started 43 games in his collegiate career at Clemson finishing with 14 interceptions and was a team captain in 2007 and 2008. He was a fifth round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in the 2009 NFL Draft. Hamlin has appeared in 12 NFL games in three seasons, recording four tackles with the Cowboys and Jacksonville Jaguars. After bouncing from Jacksonville to Indianapolis in 2011, Hamlin signed with the Washington Redskins practice squad late in the regular season. He looks to stick on the Redskins roster in 2012.
