The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers defeated the Lynchburg Hornets 86-61 on Friday night at Kimbel Arena in Conway, South Carolina. Junior guard Anthony Raffa led the way with 26 points.

Coastal Carolina led 45-40 at the half. The Chants shot nearly 56 percent in the second half and held the Hornets from Lynchburg, Virginia to just 21 second half points.

Chris Gradnigo ripped the cords for 18 points and pulled down nine rebounds for Coastal Carolina. He was supported by another solid performance from Sam McLaurin who hit all five of his shots from the field. McLaurin finished with 13 points and seven rebounds in just 23 minutes of floor time.

The game marked the return of CCU guard Danny Nieman. He served a one semester penalty away from the team for violating the student code of conduct. Nieman scored four points in the final minutes for the Chants.

Coastal Carolina improved their record to 9-1. The Chanticleers will play at East Carolina on Monday, December 19 in Greenville, North Carolina. Tip-off is set for 7 p,m.
