Zack Byrd has gotten most of his headlines as Dustin Johnson's college teammate and roommate at Coastal Carolina.  Byrd is making a name for himself in the world of professional golf.  Byrd has reached the final stage of the PGA Tour's Q-School.  The tournament takes place next Wednesday through Monday at PGA West in La Quinta, California.  The top 25 finishers in the field will get a PGA Tour card for 2012.  The next 50 finishers gain full time status on the Nationwide Tour.  The field of 134 has made it through two stages and eight rounds, but now has to get through six rounds at the Jack Nicklaus designed course.

Byrd's journey to California has had plenty of twists and turns.  In the first stage in Saint Augustine, Florida, Byrd shot 72,69 and 70 in the first three rounds and found himself outside of the top 21 to advance to stage two.  He fired a final round 65 to make it to the next level by two strokes.  From there, Byrd advanced to Panama City, Florida sharing the first round lead with Tommy Armour III after a 66.  But a disastrous 81 appeared to end Byrd's dream of making it on Tour.  However, he would fire a pair of 68's to finish in 11th and earn a spot in La Quinta.

The final stage of the PGA Tour's Q-School features a number of golf's big names trying to get back to full time status including Boo Weekely, David Duval, Jason Gore and Rich Beem.  Field for Final Stage of Q School
