The Coastal Carolina football staff is hosting a two day seven on seven passing league tournament, dubbed "Storming the Beach". In day one of competition, three of the four top spots went to local teams, but it was Highland Springs out of Richmond, Virginia taking first place. The round robin competition wraps up on Friday on the CCU football practice fields and Brooks Stadium.

Moody in a Great Mood
It sure was great to see Conway's Mykal Moody back on the gridiron. In week one (Conway's 2nd game of 2010), he had a tremendous TD run at Summerville only to see him suffer a season ending high ankle sprain that required a surgical procedure. Watching him throw it around the pitch against the Green Wave on Thursday was a great sight to see. WR Cole Watson had a couple of nice TD catches and I think he'll be a great compliment to Malcolm Green who may be the most underrated wide receiver in the area.
Snider Takes Over
A great move by Loris to hire Jamie Snider, the former CCU offensive coordinator, to replace Jim Longerbeam. Snider worked on Longerbeam's staff last year and made what could have been a real messy transition into an easy one. Snider is an amazing coach when it comes to working with the offensive line and I think that he'll keep Loris on the right path, despite being a young squad that lost a lot from a seven win team to graduation. Kentrez Hilton is back at quarterback, which is good news for Lions fans.
Big Shoes to Fill
Let's face it. You don't replace Everett Golson. He's a once in a generation type of player. Mickey Wilson is well aware of that and is wisely grooming two youngsters to fill the huge void at quarterback at Myrtle Beach High. Tyler Keane, a left handed transfer from Carolina Forest and CJ Cooper who got a little bit of seasoning during the Seahawks state championship in 2010 were alternating snaps during the Seahawks title game on Thursday. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see a two quarterback system in Myrtle Beach.
