One day after clinching a playoff spot in the Carolina League as first half Southern Division Champions, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans won for the 40th time this season before a crowd of 3,089. The Pelicans defeated the Frederick Keys 8-5 on Saturday night at BB&T Coastal Field.

Myrtle Beach blew a 3-0 lead. Trailing 5-4 in the eighth, the Birds rallied for four runs. Jared Prince drove in a pair of runs including the game-winner. Myrtle Beach now has a 40-29 first half record. They will go for a four-game sweep Sunday at 6:05 p.m. against the first half Northern Division Champion Frederick Keys.

The Pelicans began selling Carolina League playoff tickets Saturday morning. The first round best of five series will begin September 7th with the first two games at BB&T Coastal Field.
