The South Carolina Gamecocks will begin defense of their national championship at home against Georgia Southern at 7 p.m. on Friday in the Columbia Regional at Carolina Stadium. The other two teams in the bracket have N.C. State taking on Stetson at 1 p.m. All of the four team double-elimination regionals are scheduled June 3-6.
The Clemson Tigers will try to make it back to the College World Series in Omaha by hosting an NCAA Regional. Clemson's first round opponent will be the Sacred Heart Pioneers from Fairfield, Connecticut. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Coastal Carolina earned an automatic berth in the NCAA Touranment by winning the Big South Conference Tournament. The Chanticleers will try to make it to the College World Series for the first time in school history. CCU will not host a regional. They will play Connecticut at 3 p.m. in the Clemson Regional at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
The top eight seeds in the NCAA Tournament: 1 Virginia, 2 Florida, 3 North Carolina, 4, South Carolina, 5 Florida State, 6 Vanderbilt, 7 Texas, 8 Rice.A total of 64 teams are in the field scattered over 16 regions. The winners of each region advance to the Super Regionals for a best of three series. The eight winners of the Super Regionals advance to the College World Series in Omaha.
