(AP) -- CALABASH, N.C. (AP) - Roger Clemens sped through 18 holes on a North Carolina golf course just hours after pleading not guilty to charges of lying to Congress about whether he used steroids or human growth hormone during his baseball career. Following his appearance in federal court in Washington on Monday, Clemens flew into Myrtle Beach, S.C., and traveled about 30 miles north to The Pearl golf course in Calabash. Clemens and his wife, Debbie, are participating in the Golf.com World Amateur Handicap Championship, which includes nearly 3,100 competitors. Using a cart, the 48-year-old pitching great finished his round in approximately two hours. He shot an 12-over par 84, matching his wife's first-day score. Clemens needed to complete the round before sunset to avoid disqualification.
