David Bennett has filled one of his vacancies on his coaching staff. The Chanticleers have a new defensive line coach. Kevin Mapp is the new CCU defensive line coach. Mapp was coaching the defensive line at Hofstra. Mapp is a 2005 graduate of James Madison University - He was a starter in 2002 on the offensive line for the Dukes, but went to coaching after a career ending neck injury. Hofstra shut down their football program earlier this month.
Coach Mapp isn't the only Hofstra import to the program. Defensive lineman Johnny Hartsfield told WPDE sports tonight that he's enrolling at Coastal Carolina in january. Hartsfield is a redshirt freshman who has three years of eligiblity remaining. He played in 10 games for Hofstra recording 15 tackles and a sack. Hartsfield told us that two of his teammates will transfer to CCU in the summer - linebacker Christopher Thomas and Dontavius Johnson. All three players will be eligible immediately and have three years to play with the Chanticleers.
