CCU fullback Mike Tolbert signed a free agent deal with the San Diego Chargers
Coastal Carolina fullback Mike Tolbert said he was realistic when it came to the 2008 NFL Draft. He knew that not many fullbacks would be selected in the seven round draft and he was right - only four FB's were taken. As soon as the draft ended, Tolbert received interest from a number of NFL teams and signed a free agent deal with the San Diego Chargers.
Tolbert was named a second team FCS All-American after leading the Chants in rushing with 748 yards on 111 carries and 9 touchdowns. He looks to follow the path of Quinton Teal who was undrafted in 2007, but went to Carolina Panthers camp as an undrafteed free agent and made the roster becoming the first CCU player to play in an NFL game.
