Joe Goodwin is a 38 year old school teach at Myrtle Beach Elementary school. While playing beach volleyball, some friends suggested that he try out for the Spike TV show "Pros vs. Joes". The show features regular weekend warrior athletes trying to pit their skills against former professional athletes in a variety of sports. Thanks to a demo tape, Goodwin got his chance and is featured on tommorrow night's episode. Goodwin will go head to head against former New York Giants LB Jesse Armstead, former NHL tough guy Marty McSorley and former New Jersey Net Derrick Coleman.
Goodwin was one of eight contestants on the February 14th episode and won the competition by posting a time of 1:55 in a relay that required a layup on Coleman, a hockey goal against McSorley and catching two slant passes with Armstead defending. Goodwin advances to the Rose Bowl to compete with seven other competitors for a $100,000 first prize. That episode airs in March.
