Last year, Eric Smith and Khadijah Sessions were crowned 2009 Mister and Miss Hoop Zone. Smith is not back to defend his trophy, he went to prep school in Asheville, North Carolina, but Sessions is back. Sessions is back on the podium as one of four Miss Hoop Zone Finalists. Darlington's Jazz Green, Marion's Geneika Brantley and Hartsville's Jasmine Phillips were all Miss Hoop Zone Finalists last year.
There are four players on the Mister Hoop Zone podium in 2010. Darlington's Jordan Scott, Hemingway's Jazjuan Wilson, Lake City's Corey Baker and Myrtle Beach High's Everett Golson are this year's finalists. Golson has already won two WPDE Zoneman Trophies for his football prowess. No athlete has ever won Mr. Hoop Zone and the Zoneman. Wilson becomes the fifth Hemingway Tiger to reach the Mister Hoop Zone podium. Darlington and Lake City are both seeking their first Mister Hoop Zone.
The 10th Annual Hoop Zone banquet is Thursday in Myrtle Beach. Our 30 minute Hoop Zone banquet special airs on Sunday, March 14th at 12:30 pm.
