Maple Park won the South Carolina state championship in Cheraw on Sunday with a 16-6 win over Turbeville. Maple Park advances to the Dixie Youth Majors world series to play Georgia in round one on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in Carthage, North Carolina.

Greensboro, North Carolina golfer Scott Harvey won the Carolinas Amateur Championship at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach on Sunday. Harvey rallied on the final day to win by two strokes over three other North Carolina players. His final round of 1-under par 71 was good enough for a four-day total of 7-under par.
