One day after Hartsville native Jordan Lyles beat the defending World Champion San Francisco Giants, he was sent back to the minors. Lyles has been optioned to the Houston Astros Triple-A affiliate in Oklahoma City.

Former Coastal Carolina outfielder David Sappelt was called up from Triple-A Louisville on Saturday. On Sunday, he joined the Cincinnati Reds in Chicago. Sappelt made a phenominal catch in the fourth inning and later picked up his first big league hit in the fifth. Batting from the lead-off position, he went 1-for-5 and scored a run in the Reds 8-7 win over the Cubs.

Former Coastal Carolina all-american outfielder David Sappelt has been promoted to the Cincinnati Reds big league roster. Sappelt was called up from the Reds Triple-A affiliate in Louisville. He will join the Reds in Chicago on Sunday.
