Coastal Carolina defeated North Carolina A&T 31-14 on Saturday in Greensboro. The Chants got out to a 17-0 lead on an Aramis Hillary TD pass to Matt Hazel and Cheraw native Travis Small scored his first collegiate touchdown. CCU improves to a record of 3-1.

Bishopville, South Carolina native Tommy "Two Gloves" Gainey will have to wait for his first PGA Tour victory. Gainey either led or shared the lead in the first two rounds of the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, North Carolina. He shot a final round of 1-under par 69 on Sunday to finish in third place, four strokes behind the champion, Webb Simpson.

Greensboro, North Carolina golfer Scott Harvey won the Carolinas Amateur Championship at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club in Myrtle Beach on Sunday. Harvey rallied on the final day to win by two strokes over three other North Carolina players. His final round of 1-under par 71 was good enough for a four-day total of 7-under par.
