The funding was set to speed up several expensive capital projects, including some of the millions of dollars it's expected to cost to dig out silt that has built up along the Georgetown port passageway.

This money comes with a catch, though, it's part of a public private partnership, so for every dollar the state gives a community, local chambers and other organizations will have to contribute two dollars in contributions from local businesses.

Tuesday, July 03, 2012  Tuesday marked the one year anniversary of the Hornet brush fire, which burned throughout the month of July in 2011 in Carolina Forest. It was started by fireworks. Firefighter used the anniversary, also the day before the Fourth of July, to remind others of firework safety.
