Police arrested Jaleel Brookins, 17, for spraying a foul smelling liquid in the halls of Loris High School Thursday.

Just after 1 p.m., the assistant principal informed the school resource officer about a smell coming from the gym hallway.

The smell was so intense custodial staff shut all doors nearby and would not let students near where the smell was coming from, according to the report.

Custodians had to wear masks because of the smell.

The resource officer reviewed the school's camera system which showed Jaleel Brookins, a student at Loris High, walking up and down the hallway spraying something out of a bottle, the report says.

The video also showed Brookins walk over by lockers and place the bottle on the ground, according to the report.

The officer retrieved the bottle, which contained a spray said to smell like farts."

Brookins admitted he sprayed the liquid, the report says.

Officers asked Brookins if he was a member of a gang. Brookins told police he could not lie, and he was in fact a member of the Bloods street gang, the report says.

He was taken to J. Reuben Long Detention Center and charged with Stink Bombs, Illegal Use of Devices Containing Foul or Offensive Odors and Disturbing Schools.

Brookins posted his $2,000 bond and was released Friday morning.
