Horry County Fire Rescue responded to a house fire on South Green Sea Road about 1:40 p.m. Friday.

The woman who lives there called in the fire.

By the time firefighters got there, there were flames coming from the bathroom and the woman's husband was trying to put the fire out with a garden hose.

Firefighters took over and extinguished the fire.

The home was heavily damaged by smoke and no longer inhabitable, according to Battalion Chief Thomas Loper.

They called the American Red Cross to help the couple.

An investigator is trying to figure out what started the fire. But Chief Loper says the fire does not look suspicious.
