Two more people filed Tuesday to run for the vacant Horry County Council chair position.

Former chairwoman Liz Gilland and Debbie Harwell filed Tuesday.

"I walked away from the job two years ago, and I've had two years in retirement and need to do something to make a difference in the world," Gilland said.

"I'd like to be a part of solving the problems for the county with a fresh set of eyes," Harwell added.

The seat is open because former chairman Tom Rice was elected to Congress.

Former council member Mark Lazarus and current vice chair of council, Al Allen are also running for the seat.
