MLK celebration planned for Myrtle Beach

A three-day celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is planned for Myrtle Beach.

The Carolina African-American Heritage Foundation announced its freedom rally line-up.

Events start Saturday with a brown bag working luncheon at the Train Depot at 11:30 a.m.

Minorities are encouraged to join the conversation with the Economic Development Corporation at the five largest contractors in South Carolina.

Also at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Sharnell Ladson of "helping the Underserved to Become Legendary Entrepreneurs and Leaders," or HUSTLE, will have a workshopt at Sandy Grove Baptist Church on building sustainable small business.

At 4 p.m., musicians can compete at Carolina Has Talent at the Base Recreation Center.

On Sunday, churches and civil rights organizations will get together at Mount Olive African Methodist Episcopal Church from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. For Civil Rights Sunday.

A corporate and community awards breakfast is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday at the Canal Street Recreation Center.

The parade is set for 11:30 a.m., starting at 9th Avenue North.
