Lerondi Bernard Ceaser, 21, of Hartsville turned himself in to police Friday, following an incident in which a brick struck a police patrol car.
Ceaser is charged with Attempted Murder and Malicious Injury to Property.
A Hartsville police officer reported the incident, obtained an arrest warrant last Tuesday. While patrolling the 200 block of Marion Avenue, the officer saw an object thrown at the his driver's side front door.
An assessment of the patrol car revealed that a brick had struck the door, just below the officer's open window, leaving a deep dent.
Following an investigation with local residents, police began looking for Ceaser, and learned that he had specifically targeted law enforcement.
"The amount of force behind the brick made this a serious attack, which could have caused death or very serious bodily injury," Police Chief James Hudson said. "Thanks to the work of our investigators, the suspect was identified quickly."
