Around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, Midway Fire Rescue responded to a two-car wreck that sent three people to the hospital, according to Division Chief Bob Beebe.

The crash happened on Highway 17 near Norwalk Drive in Pawleys Island.

Both lanes of southbound traffic on Highway 17 were shut down for more than 25 minutes, according to Beebe.

One southbound lane is now open to traffic.

Officials say a Lexus was rear ended and pushed into the ditch by a Kia Sorrento, according to Beebe.

Emergency responders pulled two people out of the Lexus, and those victims were sent to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, said Beebe. Another person inside the Kia was sent to Waccamaw Community Hospital.

Beebe said the three victims were in stable condition when they left the scene of the crash.
