Loris High School now has a new medical program for its students. The high school will begin to offer classes aimed at students interested in medical careers.

Tuesday evening, Horry County School Board Members and Loris community members joined to celebrate the launch of the new partnership between Horry County Schools, McLeod Health, and Horry Georgetown Technical College.

The students will also receive high school and college credit and the opportunity to participate in internships at the local hospital.

"Our kids are excited about it, and they want to become a part of it, and as I said the first course will start this spring," said Principal Dick Gurley.

Medical terminology will be the focus of the first course this spring.
