Grand Strand tourism leaders say they will be concentrating more on marketing efforts towards digital devices like iPhones.
At a marketing meeting Tuesday, the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce focused on how it plans to take advantage of visitors' increasing use of mobile devices.
Officials say unique visits to the chamber's website went up 19% last year, and much of that traffic was driven by people using cell phones.
"Just by the end of next year more people will actually search across the internet on a mobile device, so we have to make sure that our marketing messages are getting through to people regardless of the device that they're on," said Scott Schult, the chamber Vice President of Marketing.
Schult also added that the ways of planning and booking travel are constantly changing and technology is making that happen, so the chamber aims to use more digital marketing.
