This week is Earthquake Awareness Week in South Carolina.

Thursday at 10:18 a.m., there will be an earthquake drill across South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC. So far, more than one million people have signed up.

It's called the Great Southeast ShakeOut and both organizations and families are encouraged to participate. You can click here to register. South Carolina experiences 12 small earthquakes a year, and large earthquakes are not out of the question. In 1886, a magnitude 7.3 quake devastated Charleston.
