A 27-year-old Lake City man is recovering at a Florence hospital after Florence County deputies say he was beaten outside of a Lake City building.

The victim's family has asked NewsChannel 15 not to release his name.

Relatives say he was leaving a party at a warehouse type building on Highway 52 when he was attacked by a couple of men, last Saturday.

They say he passed out during the attack and doesn't remember much of what happened.

The victim's aunt, Debra Witherspoon, says his injuries are so bad , you can hardly recognize his face.

"You don't do a dog like that. They got his mouth all messed up . His teeth all knocked out. His mouth is wired together. And I mean all the family is seeking is justice for the individual that did this," said Witherspoon.

She said her nephew's jaw was broken in four places and his eye socket was fractured.

The 27-year-old went through five hours of surgeries to his face, according to deputies.

Doctors have indicated to the family that he was beaten with some type of object because of the seriousness of his injuries.

"I mean it's horrible. It's horrible the condition he's in right now," Witherspoon said.

Witherspoon hopes they're able to find the people who hurt her nephew.

"The evidence prove that somebody did him in pretty, pretty bad and we just looking for justice and we will get justice."

Witherspoon isn't sure when her nephew will be released from the hospital, but he has a long road ahead of him.
