An EMT from Cheraw was killed in a crash near Monroe, North Carolina Tuesday morning.
The ambulance, belonging to Sandhills Ambulance Services out of Cheraw, collided with a tractor trailer on East Roosevelt Boulevard.
The crash happened as two EMTs were on their way back to Cheraw from a hospital in Union, North Carolina after dropping off a patient, according to Sandhills Executive Director Meg Norton.
Norton says one of the EMTs was killed, and it has devastated the company.
"It's not good because these are two young people," said Norton.
She isn't sure if the EMT who was killed was the one driving the ambulance or the passenger.
Her name isn't being released at this time.
Norton was not aware of the other EMT's condition.
