A Myrtle Beach man pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter for a shooting death in Murrells Inlet.

Judge J. Derham Cole sentenced Saire Castro, 23, to 30 years in prison without the possibility of parole.

Police say Castro and several co-defendants went to the home of Kevin Bowens, 35, on Drayton Court in the Kings Grant neighborhood on March 1, 2011.

Bowens lived in the home with his children and the mother of those children.

While Bowens and one of Castro's co-defendants argued, Castro got out of his car and shot Bowens several times, hitting him at least twice. Bowens died in his own driveway.

Castro was taken into custody not long after the shooting for questioning, but escaped custody.

He was caught several weeks later by U.S. Marshals in Florida.
