Horry County police arrested a Myrtle Beach mother of two children after they say she passed out in the sand at the Anglers Beach Access on Sunday.
Andrea Ponder Dodd, 30, is charged with two counts of Unlawful Neglect of a Child.
EMS had already taken Dodd to Waccamaw Hospital when officers arrived because they said she was unresponsive and intoxicated.
Dodd's two children, ages five and six, were with her on the beach when she fell unconscious, according to the police report. Both children told officers their mother had drank at least four beers. A family member was called to pick up the children.
The doctor that treated Dodd in the Emergency Room told police she had a blood alcohol content of .32 percent and she tested positive for cocaine.
Dodd was booked at J. Reuben Long Detention Center as soon as she was released from the hospital on Monday.
Department of Social Services workers are reviewing the case and setting up a safety plan to place the children in temporary custody.
