South Carolina and North Carolina teamed up to participate in their Hands Across the Border campaign Sunday evening.
Officers held a checkpoint on Highway 17 at the state line.
Officers from North Carolina and Horry and Georgetown counties scanned license plates to check for stolen or expired tags.
They also had K-9 units checking for narcotics.
Horry and Georgetown counties say this was also their kick-off to the Sober or Slammer campaign.
Several checkpoints are expected this week.
The next will be in Dillon, Monday evening.
