In a press conference Wednesday, Governor Nikki Haley addressed ethics in the state legislature when she stopped at Myrtle Beach International Airport with Attorney General Alan Wilson for their Ethics Reform tour.

Haley wants the state Ethics Commission to handle all ethics complaints by abolishing the House and Senate ethics committees.

Other proposals include removing legislators' exemptions from open records law. Haley cited the exemption during her 2010 campaign, though she eventually allowed reporters to view her e-mails.

"No one should have to be charged because of political vendettas and the public needs to know information based on facts and based on accountability," said Governor Haley.

The House Ethics Committee has cleared Haley of allegations she illegally lobbied for an engineering firm and a hospital while a House member.

The state Supreme Court will hear the appeal of the republican activist who accused the governor.
