MESA, Ariz. (AP) - A man accused of kidnapping a woman in the Phoenix suburb of Mesa has been arrested in South Carolina.

Mesa police said Tuesday that 24-year-old Alonzo Robles was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals.

Police say the woman was at Mesa's Main Public Library returning books on Aug. 10 when a man asked her for a ride.

She agreed and as they were driving, the suspect took out a knife and made her drive him to an undisclosed location.

Police say the suspect then forced her to pull the car over and tied her up.

The man drove to a remote location south of Florence, forced the woman from the vehicle and into some brush. He then hitched a ride.

The woman eventually freed herself. Her name hasn't been released.
