NewsChannel 15 has learned the administrator of the Marion County Detention Center has been arrested for driving under the influence. Troopers arrested Paul James in Dillon County, Saturday morning.
He was booked into the Dillon County Detention Center at 5:03 a.m. and released at 9:38 a.m. after posting a $1,022 bond. At this time, troopers aren't releasing James' blood alcohol level at the time of his arrest.
James has been the jail administrator in Marion County for the past three years, but he has been in law enforcement for more than 20 years.
Marion County administrator Tim Harper says he has yet to talk with James about the incident, but is conducting an internal investigation.
Harper says James has been placed on administrative leave without pay pending the outcome of his court hearing next month on his DUI arrest.
