The driver of a moped was killed Friday morning in a crash involving a car.

Highway Patrol spokesman Sonny Collins says the moped and a Suzuki were traveling north on Highway 52 south of Effingham, when the driver of the Suzuki hit the rear of the moped.

It happened around 5 a.m.

The Florence County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as Guy Plante, 48, of Florence County.

No charges have been filed.
