An 18-year-old driver told North Myrtle Beach police there was no way for him to avoid hitting a man that was crossing Highway 17 near 13th Avenue North Saturday night.

He said the man walked into oncoming traffic and there was no way to avoid him because of surrounding cars.

Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard says Larry Sadler, 65, of Little River died on the scene at 11:30 p.m.

No charges will be filed.
