Darlington Fire Chief Jim Stone has been suspended with pay pending the outcome of a State Law Enforcement Division investigation.

Darlington City Manager Howard Garland says it involves improper use of inmate labor.

Garland says the city should hear something from SLED within a week or so.

Pat Cavanaugh is serving as interim Fire Chief.
