Myrtle Beach police have arrested Julie Herndon and charged her in connection with the theft of $11,000 from the Myrtle Beach Primary School's Parent Teacher Organization.
Police say Herndon's child attends the school and Herndon served as the PTO treasurer.
According to the police report, Herndon transferred money from the PTO's account to her personal bank account.
The report says the PTO president got an anonymous tip about the missing money and informed the school's principal.
Horry County Schools spokesperson Teal Britton says the district has nothing to do with PTO finances.
"They work generally to support an initiative of the school, but they are not governed anyway financially or otherwise by anyone at the school or district level," Britton said.
Herndon was charged with fraud and was released on bond.
