A Garden City Beach man pointed a box cutter at two people inside a Murrells Inlet home and threatened to kill them Saturday, according to a report from Horry County police.

Timothy Shane Doyle, 32, is charged with two counts each of 2nd Degree Assault and Battery, Kidnapping and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime.

Doyle was arrested after police responded to an assault on Kings Grant Drive. When they got there, a 31-year-old woman told officers Doyle had 'flipped out' on her and another man while they were partying at the home.

The woman told police Doyle hit her in the back of the head with something, pushed her into a dresser, then pointed a box cutter at them and made them sit on the bed. Doyle said he faced several criminal charges and had no choice but to kill them, according to the report.

The woman said she was able to get away and call police from a nearby gas station after a friend entered the home and distracted Doyle.

Doyle is being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center on $65,000 bond.

The woman was treated and released at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
