Myrtle Beach police are investigating a single car accident that killed two people from Arkansas, according to Cpt. David Knipes.

Horry County Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard said it happened at 3:20 p.m. Sunday on Highway 17 Business near Dunes Cove.

The driver, Ronnie Timberlake, 26, of Conway, Arkansas, was traveling south, crossed the median and both lanes of traffic, then struck a light pole, Willard said.

Timberlake died at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center at 3:36 p.m. He was not wearing a seat belt. The passenger, Victoria Stotts Burton, 27, of Searcy, Arkansas, died at the scene from multiple trauma, Willard said. She was wearing a seat belt.

Myrtle Beach police are investigating the accident.
