FLORENCE -- Florence firefighters were called to a house fire on Gladstone Street around 3 a.m. Thursday.
On adult living inside the home was injured in the fire and taken to the hospital. That person's condition has not been released.
The Florence Fire Department says the fire started in the kitchen due to unattended cooking on the stove.
The fire was out in about 15 minutes.
"The National Fire Protection Association reports that forty two percent (42%) of reported home fires in the United States involve cooking equipment, and unattended cooking is the leading cause of these fires. Unattended cooking fires are the leading cause of civilian injuries in home fires ," said Florence Fire Department's public information officer, Ken Carr.
