A Georgetown man died after wrecking his motorcycle Friday afternoon. Horry County coroner Robert Edge says the victim is 60-year-old Melvin Richard Perry, Jr.

The incident happened on 17 bypass just north of the Garden City Connector. Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins with Highway Patrol says Perry rear ended a SUV that slowed down for traffic.

Perry and a passenger were both thrown from the motorcycle. They were taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Collins says Perry was not wearing a helmet. He died Saturday morning.
