DILLON -- Assistant 4th Circuit Solicitor Shipp Daniel says Dillon police have charged Tyreek Hayes, 17, with giving false information to law enforcement after an incident involving a gun at Dillon High School last week.

Last Thursday, police arrested Miracle Harley, 18, for pointing the gun a fellow student in the school cafeteria.

School staff and students told police they got the gun away from Harley, and she was taken into custody.

Daniel says Hayes knew where the gun was and failed to tell officials until he was questioned a second time.

Daniel won't release much information about the charge Hayes faces, but says Hayes had nothing to do with the gun being at school.

Harley is charged with Attempted Murder, Possession of a Weapon on School Campus and Disturbing Schools. She was released on $150,000 bond and ordered to stay away from the victim and Dillon High School.

Since the incident, school officials have placed metal detectors at two entrances at Dillon High.

School administrators say the metal detectors will remain at the school until the end of the school year.
